There are times when we can feel submerged.
One thing after the other; thoughts, ideas, events, circumstances and consequences pile up high all around; surrounding us, overwhelming us and engulfing us.
Sometimes the floodgates open…both figuratively and literally.
And we have to try with all our might to keep our heads above water, just to breathe.
How easy would it be to let go and just float away?
Fighting against the flow is so daunting. And the battle to keep one’s head above water is so draining.
We can easily imagine the relief of not having to struggle to tread water and combat the current.
The reprieve would be instantaneous…
Yet so very temporary.
Letting go would be easy and sweet, but the consequences would be devastating and permanent. It would shape the future… and ultimately limit the possibilities for our potential selves.
For the growth lies within the struggle.
As much as they may cause pain, suffering and tears – we need to confront those rising tides and strong undercurrent.
We need those battles. We need those opportunities to grow.
So, when we see the waters rising around us – we can’t throw in the towel or just drift away with the tide. We need to fight against the current with all our might.
And eventually come out on the other side of the waterway; a little tired, a little wet, a little cold…but ultimately a superior version of ourselves.
So, grab your board, wetsuit, buoy or life preserver, and take on those waves, as always, with Grit&Grace.
