I recently read that loneliness is the epidemic currently crippling our society, especially here in North America.
I found this statement disturbing and destabilizing … all the while seemingly stating the blatantly obvious.
We have moved so far away from our roots, that the spaces between the seedlings are gapping.
Competition trumps collaboration.
Individual triumph wins over collective improvement.
Difference outweighs commonality.
Independence bypasses cooperation.
We all seem to be working so hard to get ahead, that we are leaving so many parts of ourselves behind.
The good parts: the collective conscientiousness.
Being a part of something bigger than one’s self is a game-changer.
And there are infinite possibilities to become a moving part of a collective. Teams are everywhere you look: your partner, your family, your friends, your workplace, your community…your planet.
The key to forming a team is to be open to the connection – to want to be a part of a whole. Letting someone into your inner circle, means letting your guard down. This may seem highly detrimental to an individual scaling the success tower and trying to get ahead. Why would I want to expose my vulnerabilities, fears and doubts? Doesn’t this just give my competitors an easy target?
But what if it built you up instead of tearing you down?
Working together towards a common goal; tag teaming to get it done; lifting each other up when things get rough; cheering each other on during the push for the finish line.
Imagine what could get done?
Complicity and counsel creating balance…in yourself, your team and your community.
It’s a safety net, a merger, a cheerleader, a bonus, a step ladder… a reciprocal gift.
Open up, let someone in and give of yourself generously. You will reap what you sow.
This world was not made for soloists. Stiving solely for individual goals has thrown us and the universe off kilter.
Be it the loneliness epidemic, the various wars that are raging, the economic despair, the climate crisis or the mental health catastrophe crippling our society. Despair and strife are everywhere you turn.
Time to turn towards each other. Time to band together and recalibrate…ourselves, our environment and our world.
Teamwork making dreamwork, indubitably with #Grit&Grace.

Yes! I see it everyday … individualism…
Collective conscientiousness is indeed what we are missing. It takes a village and we are stronger in numbers… on many levels!
