Spring blows in, with warmer winds, chirping birds and blooms galore. We can hear, feel and smell the change all around us.
The sun beats down and the heat radiates up from the ground beneath us. We enjoy the longer days, the warm breeze coming off the water and the carefree ways of summer.
Fall descends upon us, with the falling leaves creating a colorful carpet allowing us to pardon the sun as it sets earlier. We adjust to the new routine and embrace the possibility of the start of something new.
The arctic air feels like crystals in our lungs and the moon reflects on the glistening snow. We welcome the warmth and glow from the fireplace as a stark contrast from the frozen landscape. We anticipate holiday traditions and the possibility of guiltless cocooning.
With each new season, we experience a range of emotions: loss, return, grief, delight, anticipation, refuge, excitement, apprehension, fear, wonder…
The possibilities are endless, which is maybe why it can be a little overwhelming. Transitions – even ones we do on repeat – still carry so much instability and ambiguity.
What does the next season hold for me?
How will I find the points of reference to guide me?
Who will be there for me as the seasons change?
Will I remain true to myself?
And who exactly am I, faced with this change?
The seasons of life hold so much mystery. And they are not as predictable as the onset of fall or winter. Sometimes, they blow in without much warning and they can wreak havoc on our ecosystem.
The unknown can be ominous or promising.
It’s often a matter of perspective and our willingness to welcome or deny the onset of something new.
While we can’t necessarily control the changes, nor the repercussions that ensue, we can control our reactions. Willing our mind and our hearts to embrace the revolution.
Will over reflex;
Mind over matter;
Heart over reason.
Become the change, one breath at a time, as always, with #Grit&Grace.

Ruth, you are a beautiful writer. We are indeed fortunate to live in a place where we can experience all four seasons. They are perfectly timed, just as one starts to feel usual and familiar the next rolls in and is welcomed for all that it offers. 💗
